RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Agility Competitions are timed events specific to an obstacle course with horse in-hand
  • Handlers may carry a quider whip, or crop
  • Touching or guiding the horse is allowed with the items above
  • Halters may be web or knotted and any length lead may be utilized
  • The Event Host has sole discretion to eliminate any person and their horse for perceived cruelty or poor sportsmanship

Rules for Running Course

  • Each competitor will have 3 runs
  • The course is to be reset after each competitors run
  • Each run is timed (there are no points or faults), however if horse fails to negotiate an obstacle correctly they must repeat the obstacle before moving to next obstacle (See Performance Standards of Obstacles)
  • The Team with the lowest combined score for all 3 runs is the winner, followed by the next quickest time, and so on.
  • A Competitor has a maximum time of 4 minutes to complete the course, after the allocated time the competitor must exit the course
  • If a competitor fails to complete the course in the allocated time then they will be given a time of 4 minutes plus the slowest time of that run.
  • In the event of a tie for places 1st-4th, there will be a run-off on the last course run.  The quickest time then wins.
  • Prizes and awards will be given for 1st through 4th place.
  • There must be a minimum of 8 competitors per division for 1st through 4th to be given.  If there are less than 8 competitors, only 1st and 2nd place will be awarded. This ensure the balance of points is correct for National Point Standings

  • In Advanced Liberty Classes, 2 whips or guiding sticks may be used.
